Spiny Seahorse in Green (Original Artwork)
£250.00
Original artwork using ink, acrylics and waterbased dyes on paper. Dimensions including frame and mount: 40 x 30 cm.
On the endangered species list, the Spiny Seahorse (Hippocampus guttulatus) is found in UK shallow, inshore waters. There are two types, short snouted and long snouted. They can grow up to 15-17 cm. Using their prehensile tails, they cling to rocks, seaweeds and sea grass. They use their amazing camouflage of colour and skin texture to avoid detection by predators. After incubating within the male, seahorse young are completely independent from birth. What wonderfully weird animal to inhabit our world?!
