Karkhagh peers from its safe haven to assess whether the viewer is friend or foe. This intelligent, shape-shifting creature plumbs deeper depths, mentally and physically more than we humans will ever know. Folklore has it as a fearsome monster, the 'Kraken', where in more recent times we see another side in the documentary 'My Octopus Teacher'. I am drawn to this magnificent animal to research and illustrate.
